Tarantula Hawk Wasp

The New Mexico State insect is the Tarantula Hawk Wasp.. We got to see this sucker up close and... it is pretty scary looking.

The wasp not only KILLS Tarantulas but it also lays its larvae inside the Tarantula so that the larvae can feast their way out!  SOOO GROSS!!

    EWWWWWWWW. That's why I don't think I could ever live in the Southern states. I thought all you had to worry about in New Mexico were the scorpions.
